What to pack for a jungle tour in Peru
This packing list keeps you comfortable in heat, humidity, and rain—without overpacking.
Clothing (keep it simple)
- Lightweight long-sleeve shirts (sun + insects)
- Quick-dry pants (preferably hiking/travel fabric)
- 1 warm layer for early mornings / higher elevations (Manu routes)
- Sleepwear and extra socks (humidity matters)
Footwear
- Hiking shoes or trail runners with good grip
- Sandals or camp shoes for lodge time
Rain & waterproofing
- Light rain jacket or poncho
- Dry bags or zip bags for electronics
- Waterproof cover for your backpack
Insect protection
- Repellent (ask your doctor/pharmacist about DEET or alternatives)
- Long sleeves/pants as your main defense
Photography gear (optional)
- Binoculars (highly recommended for wildlife viewing)
